Louis Manzione will be departing the University of Hartford in June, where he has been serving as the Dean of the College of Engineering, Technology and Architecture since 2005. The Construction Institute will honor Dean Manzione with the David N. Labau Lifetime Achievement Award, at the 9th Annual Visionaries Forum, on May 17th, at Spotlight Theaters in Hartford. During his time at the University, Dean Manzione has worked closely with the Construction Institute to enhance and deepen the relationship between the CETA and the Institute as well as with the University in general. Dean Manzione has served on the Institute’s Board of Advisors and has served as a presenter and a writer for Insitute programs.

“Lou is a voice for innovation, technology, and economic development in the region and the state,” said Provost Fred Sweitzer. “He set a vision and has been tireless and creative in his pursuit of external partnerships and funding, working with private, public, and government representatives, and cultivating a loyal base of alumni and donors.” Provost Sweitzer also noted the great pride Dean Manzione has taken in his faculty, both the long-serving veterans and the cadre of talented faculty he has recruited from all over the world. “Lou has set the bar high, and we are a better University because of his personal and professional contributions.”

Dean Manzione has accepted a position with the President of the Association of Independent Colleges of New Jersey and the Independent College Fund of New Jersey. New Jersey is home to Manzione’s three children and their families, including three grandchildren. He is confident the opportunity is a perfect fit for the next step in his career, combining his backgrounds and expertise in both the corporate and academic arenas.
